Back at work 04/23/2012
Back here at the shop. The month of May will be busy and exciting. Deb and I will be talking at the Appleseed Guild meeting on May 2nd, this may be the comdy of the year. Then there will be a book signing reception for Marie Bostwick on May 3rd 6:00-8:00pm. With this weather it looks like we will have coffee and Tea instead of lemonade. Stop in and hear Marie's story and check out her books. May 10 and 11th Al and I will be vending up in Big Rapids, Michigan. Mother's Day May 13th (so come get one of Marie's Books as a gift). Cathie Phillips will be doing her class on the Kanzashi Flower pin May 19th. There are only a couple of seats still available, so call and register. Check out the calendar for addtional classes. The last weekend in May I may be in DC doing a Quilting Demonstration, details pending. Right now there is a bang bang bang going on here at the shop, we are replacing the stairs to the apartment upstairs. Too much to tell about the trip East. Lots to do and see and not enough time. Had to put Mom's house on the market. She still thinks her social security is paying for her assisted living apartment. Went to a gallery opening in Providence, RI where my sister Cheryl had been juried into the show. She sold one of her pieces to a Federal judge! My two sisters, my daughter Barb and I had dinner together. This was a rare opportunity to coordinte 4 schedules. See you soon' Sandi Add Comment Travel time again 04/16/2012
Well if you have been into the shop did you notice I'm not there? Bet you didn't. I am kind of on a vacation. Yes, the trip involves Boston. Al and I headed out of town and the first stop was in Corning, New York. We did some checking out of the area. There is a lot to do and see. Kids are welcome. They can even make their own glass piece. Lots of arts and crafts shops, a Western and Native American Art museum all within waliking distance. Restaurants are good and fun. We planned to stop on the way back to see the museums. Boston was a mess. We had forgotten how the Boston Marathon disrupts traffic. On top of the race there is always hometown Red Sox games. If you are a timid driver don't drive in Boston. Just think of a very congested city with over 26 miles of a road blocked off, you can not cross Commonwealth Ave During the race. We had forgotten that the race is a fund raiser for many charities. Heat was a dangerous factor this year. It felt like 100 degrees just walking. Checking on Mom and seeing daughter Barb are a must . We all went to see the movie Bully. It is a must see for everyone that is invloved with kids especially teachers and staff. i feel it should be a part of a workshop for schools. Oh, Mom said she had seen it 3 times! She also wants to know when we are moving back to Boston since Al has retired and will get a cost of living based on where we live- and life goes on. Next on this trip is Providence RI, for the opening of an Art exhibit my sister Cheryl was juried into. til then S Happy Easter 04/07/2012

Sitting here at the computer listening to the basketball game (he is watching). This cold weather has vivid memories of our being stationed at Minot, North Dakota! The day we left the wind chill made the temperature minus 70! So I guess this is rather balmy compared to that. Stop in on Tuesday and sign up for a drawing of Debrands Chocolate. We will draw at 5pm. Fat Quarters are still on sale for $2.00 so it's a good time to shop. Please excuse our mess. We are in the process of taking out those PINK fixtures in the bathroom. There is still some wall paper that needs stripping if anyone wants to take their frustrations out. Coordinating the plumber and the carpet guys is difficult, so please have patients with the process. Mark your calendar for the 3rd Tuesday of the month. We will have a sit and stitch 5pm until? Anyone that wants a daytime group let us know and we will put it on the calender. Let us know if you are still not getting emails (sent one 2/12) so we can update the list. There will be specials for those on the email list, so don't miss out. Sandi Winter Travel 01/28/2012
Well, we have had the first 'delay' in opening the shop. Thursday I was chicken to come out on the ice. Once you break a leg you get a little over cautious. Just a reminder that if the weather is delaying or closing schools please call the shop first before venturing out. Deb and I preferr not to venture out and be a target for the other drivers. Weather permitting either of us will try to make it in as soon as the roads are cleared. The shop is located in the East Allen School/Leo area for any public notices. Call first if you have questions. Today was the second session of Evelyn's Quilt as you go Log cabin. What a chatty group but productive! Watch the calendar for the next class soon. Anyone interested in the new Eleanor Burns book Tales of Wives? If so I am interested in it as a block of the month. Call and sign up. Sandi Fat Quarter Sale 01/25/2012

Time to settle into the football games. This is a great time to do some handwork, get those bindings done. The weekend has been dampened by the weather but for all of us quilters it has provided some time to plan, pick fabrics, and possibly cut out the pieces for our next project. My biggest problem is I get into my books and patterns and start picking projects or reading some of the history and before I know it hubby is asking if I plan on going to bed. OOps,the email I sent out had a problem connecting to the web site. Paste our web site into your favorites to avoid this again. I am playing with the soft colors of spring and the primary bright colors which seems to be helping my mood. Gray overcast days are the worst for me. Let a little sunshine in via your fabric. The Fat Quarters are on special, pick your bundle of 10 for $20. Well now I have seen everything-football players going around singing! Time to go back to the sewing room til the game resumes.
