Well, we have had the first 'delay' in opening the shop. Thursday I was chicken to come out on the ice. Once you break a leg you get a little over cautious. Just a reminder that if the weather is delaying or closing schools please call the shop first before venturing out. Deb and I preferr not to venture out and be a target for the other drivers. Weather permitting either of us will try to make it in as soon as the roads are cleared. The shop is located in the East Allen School/Leo area for any public notices. Call first if you have questions. Today was the second session of Evelyn's Quilt as you go Log cabin. What a chatty group but productive! Watch the calendar for the next class soon. Anyone interested in the new Eleanor Burns book Tales of Wives? If so I am interested in it as a block of the month. Call and sign up. Sandi Fat Quarter Sale 01/25/2012

Time to settle into the football games. This is a great time to do some handwork, get those bindings done. The weekend has been dampened by the weather but for all of us quilters it has provided some time to plan, pick fabrics, and possibly cut out the pieces for our next project. My biggest problem is I get into my books and patterns and start picking projects or reading some of the history and before I know it hubby is asking if I plan on going to bed. OOps,the email I sent out had a problem connecting to the web site. Paste our web site into your favorites to avoid this again. I am playing with the soft colors of spring and the primary bright colors which seems to be helping my mood. Gray overcast days are the worst for me. Let a little sunshine in via your fabric. The Fat Quarters are on special, pick your bundle of 10 for $20. Well now I have seen everything-football players going around singing! Time to go back to the sewing room til the game resumes. See ya soon Sandi Boy time flies 01/17/2012

Happy New Year! Ya I'm a little late. I can't say where the time has gone but maybe I can catch up. The holidays were busy with the usual cleaning the house and fixing meals but best of all the family was all here. Twenty-four hour circus of grand kids. Daughter Barbara was able to come in from Boston to catch up on being "Aunt Barb" for the week. The Grands are 16, 13, 10 and 4, all into the electronic age. Even Jayden at 4 knows how to use the DS-he was teaching Gram and Grandpa! Since going to market lots of items have come into the shop. Jewlery by Meg Hannan. Fabric lines include: Animal Magic by J Cain, Aunt Gracies Garden party (30's). Riley Blake bag kits, Red work patterns, English paper piecing by Sue Daley designs, Bali pops and Good ole Maxine have all arrived. Due in are Yo Gabba Gabba, The Berenstain Bears, Susybee for the kids. Charlie Brown Christmas will be arriving in early summer. Daiwabo and Cocheco IV will add to the traditional lines. As I am typing a delivery of RJR arrived. Another reason for you to stop into the shop often, you might miss something. The hot items from market were the many English paper piecing patterns, applique and Red Work. The shop now carries a supply of DMC embroidery/cross stitch thread. Check out the calendar for the new classes and events coming up. We will be adding classes directly to the calendar to get the information out to you as fast as possible. We participated in the Celina Grand Lake One Stop Shop Hop last weekend. If you haven't been to the lake it is worth a trip. I had a great time and met lots of new people. Mark your calendars for March 23rd and 24th for the next One Stop Shop Hop. We will be at the UNOH Event Center in Lima, Ohio. This will be the weekend after the Gathering, which will be in Auburn this year. There's a new look to the shop and we hope you like it. No, I haven't lost the weight I planned to this summer, but now I have a new incentive. Curves is moving in across the street from the shop and Leo Cafe is planning on adding more soups and salads to the menu. Now I think someone is trying to tell me something. Sisters visit 09/04/2011
The summer is officially over this weekend dispite the temperatures indicating otherwise. Sisters, Cheryl and Chris brought my niece, Cory out to Oberlin to start college. Arriving here late Tuesday night to spend time with me. Their trip was interesting due to a 9 hour detour at Albany, New York! The trip usually takes 14 hours from my house to Boston. Bridges out and flooding has made a mess of the east coast. But dispite all of this they made it and we had fun quilting, knitting and giggling for three days. Chris said if she had thought to bring some knitting supplies she would have had at least one gift made during the detour. She went back with lots of yarn! Now is the time to get some of those small quilted gifts made for the holidays. Come into the shop and check out the tablerunners, placemats and bed runners. Cathie is teaching a doll clothes making class for an 18" doll. Evelyn is teaching a great quilted table topper bear paw class. Each of these classes are projects you can get done in time for Christmas. Think you could teach a class? We are always looking for instructors and sample makers. Don't for get to make our web site one of your favorites and check often for updates. Be first to know when specials are happening at the shop. Summer 05/11/2011
I don't know about you, but with spring comes the hayfever. I love the stage as the winter retreats and the colors begin to emerge. I am in a 'green' stage. What's that you ask? As the colors emerge I start to check out my stash and see if I have in that color in my stash. Off for the fabric hunt to get as many shades, hues and values of the rainbow of colors as they emerge. There is the celebration of the 4th of July that starts the search for Red White and Blue. The shop is challenging anyone to make a Quilt of Valor lap quilt by August 30th to enter in a chance to win $50.00 in shop bucks. We are also looking for individuals to make samples for the shop, contact us if you are interested. | AuthorSandi Brothers ArchivesJanuary 2012 CategoriesAll |
